James' work has been featured in major publications, exhibitions, and collaborative projects worldwide and has received numerous accolades, including Hasselblad Masters Award 2008, West Australian of the Year Art and Culture 2013, Fashion Photographer of the Year Harpers Bazar China 2018, Australian Fashion Laureate International Impact award 2018, Daily Front Row Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 and The Order of Australia Medal in 2022 on QE2 Honors List, recognising his contributions to the arts.
